Hymns

Wake up, O Christian, rise!
Away with lesser things;
Give heart and soul and mind and strength
To serve the King of kings.

Awake, keep awake,
For the Bridegroom is now near;
We welcome his Parousia
With lamps and hearts aglow.

Wake up, O Christian, rise!
His kingdom tarries long;
Bring in the day of brotherhood
And end the night of wrong.

Wake up, O Christian, rise!
How long the Church must wait.
Her strength unequal to her task.
Rise up and make her great.

Wake up, O people, rise away with lesser things.
Give heart and soul and mind and strength
To serve the King of kings.

Awake, be alert, for a new age is now here
Let's journey through this century
With goal and vision clear.

Wake up, O people, rise, for gospel values search.
Let mission and discovery
Revitalize the Church.

Wake up O people rise! How long the Church must wait?
To live by her priorities'?
Rise up and make her great.

Chorus: Wake up, O people, the Lord is very near!
Wake up, and stand for the Lord.
Wake up, O people, the Lord is very near!
Wake up, and stand for the Lord.

Your saving Lord is near. Wake up!
His glory will appear. Wake up!
Your hour of grace is nearer than it ever was.

The night of sin has passed. Wake up!
The light is near at last. Wake up!
The day star, Christ, the Son of God, will soon appear.

To live in love and peace. Wake up!
To let all quarrels cease. Wake up!
To live that all you do may stand the light of day.

That Christ may be your shield. Wake up!
That death to life may yield. Wake up!
That heaven’s gate be opened wide again for you.

Walk with me O my Lord
Through the darkest night and brightest day
Be at my side O Lord
Hold my hand and guide me on my way.

  1. Sometimes the road seems long, my energy is spent,
    Then Lord, I think of You and I am given strength.
  2. Stones often bar my path and there are times I fall,
    But you are always there to help me when I call.
  3. Just as you calmed the wind and walked upon the sea,
    Conquer, my living Lord, the storms that threaten me.
  4. Help me to pierce the mists that cloud my heart and mind
    So that I shall not fear the steepest mountain side.
  5. As once you healed the lame and gave sight to the blind,
    Help me when I’m downcast to hold my head up high.
Wash Me Lord, Wash Me Clean,
From my sin, my iniquity.
Mercy Lord, for I know my transgression,
And my guilt I see.
Turn your face from my sins,
In your love blot away my guilt.
Make me pure deep within,
Faithful and steadfast in your ways.

With your love and your truth,
I’ll become whiter than the snow.
I will hear songs of joy
And my heart shall echo with your praise.
Sacrifice do I bring: see my gift is a contrite heart,
For the Lord never spurns broken spirits,
Who place their trust in him.

Water, water and the Spirit,
Promise, promise of a new life
We are born of water and the Spirit,
And life is ours, a life that will never end.

Waters, waters of creation;
Symbol of regeneration,
Sign that we were buried with Christ Jesus
And that we walk in newness of life with him.

Waters of a new vocation;
Calling us to proclamation,
Urging us to share the life of Jesus,
To spread his truth to all and to be the light.

We are climbing up the mountain of the Lord
Who will teach us to walk in His ways?

For the law shall go forth out of Zion,
And the Word of the Lord from His hill.

He’ll transform all our spears into plough shares.
Of our swords he will make pruning hooks.

No more nation shall fight other nations,
Nor of war shall they learn any more.

We are God's people: He has called us and chosen us,
Chosen us in Christ to work for the coming of his kingdom.

God gives us the Spirit of Christ
That Christ may be wherever we are.

God gives us the Spirit of Christ
That we may bring the good news to all.

God gives us the Spirit of Christ
That we may spread his kingdom of peace.

God gives us the Spirit of Christ
That we may bring his justice to all.

We are happy Christians, All united in the Lord,
We belong to one family; Jesus Christ has chosen us,
To carry out his life, over every land and sea.
From the north and from the south
And from the east and west,
He has called us all together.

And we are delighted, that we are united,
Into God’s own family (2)

Now as Christians we must try
To live the Gospel life, living in simplicity
We will share the goods we have, with everyone in need.
Such is Christ like charity.
We are grateful that God called us to his way of life
In the footsteps of our Savior.

We are here to praise you, Lift our hearts and sing
We are here to give You, The best that we can bring
And it is our love, Rising from our hearts
Everything within us cries, 'Abba Father'
Help us now to give You
Pleasure and delight, Heart and mind and will that say, 'I love You Lord'

We are one in the Spirit, We are one in the Lord (x2)

And we pray that all unity, May one day be restored
And they'll know we are Christians, By our love, By our love
Yes, they'll know we are Christians, By our love

We will walk with each other, We will walk hand in hand
We will walk with each other, We will walk hand in hand
And together we'll spread the news, That God is in our land

We will work with each other, We will work side by side
We will work with each other, We will work side by side
And we'll guard each man's dignity, And save each man's pride

All praise to the Father, From whom all things come
And all praise to Christ Jesus His only son
And all praise to the Spirit, Who makes us one

Make us one, Lord!

Make us one, Lord!

We are the bearers of the light of Christ the King,
He is the true and only Light, is Christ our King.
Of Virgin Mother he was born when the world was all forlorn;
To mankind in sin and woe, when the world was suffering hem below
He brought the light, He brought the light.

Mary by sin was never stained, she bore the light
Mother, yet virgin she remained, she fought the fight
The fairest virgin of our race, filled from birth with saving grace,
When the angel's voice she heard, she responded to God's holy Word,
She bore the Light, she bore the Light.

We’re together again
(Just) praising the Lord,
We’re together again
In one accord;

Something good is going to happen
Some good is in store
We’re together again
(Just) praising the Lord.
We could wish you joy and peace,
To last a whole life long,
We could wish you sunshine, Or a cheerful little song,
Or wish you all the happiness, That this life could bring
But we wish you Jesus, But we wish you Jesus,
But we wish you Jesus, More than anything.

We could wish you leaves of gold,
And may your path be smooth,
We could wish you treasures,
Or that all your dreams come true,
And I could wish you paradise,
That every day be spring,
But we wish you Jesus, But we wish you Jesus,
But we wish you Jesus, Cause when we wish you Jesus,
We 've wished you everything.

We glorify your cross and praise your resurrection
For by this holy timber, joy came into the world.

And may this noble tree for us a blessing be,
Revealing to all peoples the goodness of your way.

The world will shout for joy because you rule with truth.
There from the cross you guide us in fairness and with love.

We hail Thee Saviour and Lord
Thy Cross ever be adored.

O Cross thou art the fountain
Of love, and of liberty
Shine down upon the millions
who search for the light of Truth.

Look down upon the needy,
Confirm them in love and grace.
Thou art our true salvation
In Thee all our hope we place.

Be thou our sign of victory
Redeem us from sin and strife
Renew in us Thy passion
And grant us eternal life.

We have come into His house
Gathered in His name to worship Him, (x2)
We have come into His house
Gathered in His name to worship Christ, the Lord
Worship Him, Jesus Christ, the Lord.

Let's forget about ourselves
Concentrate on Him and worship Him, (x2)
Let's forget about ourselves
Concentrate on Him and worship Christ, the Lord
Worship Him, Jesus Christ, the Lord.

Let us lift up holy hands
Magnify His Name and worship Him, (x2)
Let us lift up holy hands
Magnify His Name and worship Christ, the Lord
Worship Him, Jesus Christ, the Lord.

He is all my righteousness
I stand complete in Him and worship Him, (x2)
He is all my righteousness
I stand complete in Him and worship Christ, the Lord
Worship Him, Jesus Christ, the Lord.

We offer You, O Lord divine,
Our humble gifts of bread and wine.
We place them on Your altar, Lord, today.
Make them worthy of Your love.
Send Your blessings from above,
Sanctify these gifts, O Lord, we pray.

O take our hearts, take our minds.
Take all we have, make them thine

We offer You, O Lord above,
Our pain and fear, our joy and love,
We place them on You altar Lord, today.
Make us faithful, make us true,
Give us hope and courage too,
Sanctify our lives, O Lord we pray.

Coda
O Lord take all we have, O Lord

We see Christ with eyes of the heart
With our hands we touch the word of life
What we see and hear we declare
That together the life of Father and Son we may share.

For our Saviour has conquered: Alleluia He has conquered
Over death victorious: Alleluia victorious
Over evil he’ll triumph, Alleluia He’ll triumph
Jesus Reigns over all.

See what love God showed to us all,
We are called his children and so we are!
God is love and love casts out fear.
We'll be like unto him, for we'll see him when he appears.

We have heard that message from him:
God is light, before him the darkness flees!
If we claim to share in his life,
We must walk in his light to banish all evil and strife!

We see the troubles in our lives,
We wonder why things are this way
Why is there pain? Why is there lonliness?
Is there one who can help us in our need?

Look up to the Lord, put your hope in the Saviour
He showed us that to live we first must die.
Look up to the Lord, put your hope in the Saviour,
The darkness of his death has turned to light!

Life can be difficult at times,
The answers may seem far away:
Why is there hate? Why is there selfishness?
Is there one who overcame this strife?

We feel the closed world of the mind,
We look for words from those who care.
Where are the just? Where is the openness?
Is there one whose life made others free?

We seek thee Lord Jesus, we seek thy blessed face
To know thee, Lord Jesus and to know thy saving grace,
We seek thee, Lord Jesus; our voices we raise,
We seek thee, Lord Jesus; our hearts are filled with praise

Like the deer that yearns for running streams of water,
So my soul is thirsting for you, my God

Like the eyes of servants gazing on their master
So our eyes are focused on you , O Lord

Like the sparrows building nests beside your altar
In your loving care, Lord we feel secure.

We shall sing your praise, O Lord,
Now and evermore, now and evermore,
We shall sing your praise.

You render justice to the poor: Yes, O Lord,
You give the hungry bread to eat: Yes, O Lord,
And from the chains the captives free,
Yes, O Lord, we shall sing your praise.

Through you the blind can see the day: Yes, O Lord,
The humble hearts are filled with hope: Yes, O Lord,
You give your blessings to the just,
Yes, O Lord, we shall sing your praise.

Your hand protects the orphan child: Yes, O Lord,
And every widow you defend: Yes, O Lord,
For us your love shall never end,
Yes, O Lord, we shall sing your praise.

We stand for God and for his glory,
The Lord supreme and God of all;
Against his foes we raise his standard;
Around the cross we hear his call.

Chorus
Strengthen our faith, Redeemer;
Guard us when danger is nigh;
To thee we pledge our lives and service,
For God we live , for God we’ll die:
To thee we pledge our lives and service,
For God we live, for God we die.

We stand for God! Jesus our master
Has died for us with love untold;
His law divine and truth unchanging
In this our land their place must hold.

We stand for God! in ages olden
He placed “the Cross” our stars beside;
O may our land, gracious and golden,
Be faithful to the Crucified.

Alternative chorus:
Strengthen our faith, Redeemer;
Guard us when danger is nigh;
To thee we pledge our lives and service,
Strong in a faith that ne'er shall die,
To thee we pledge our lives and service,
Strong in a faith that ne'er shall die.

We thank our God for you, each time we think of you,
And when we pray for you, we pray with joy and love.

This is now our prayer for you:
That your love grow more and more,
May discretion stay with you
And help you choose the best.

May your life be filled with good,
Which from Christ alone can come,
May your deeds from day to day
Give glory to our God.

You have helped us in our work
Through the message that your brought
You are always in our hearts
As in the heart of Christ.

We three kings of Orient are;
bearing gifts we traverse afar,
field and fountain, moor and mountain,
following yonder star.

Chorus:
O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,
gold I bring to crown him again,
King forever, ceasing never,
over us all to reign.
Chorus

Frankincense to offer have I;
incense owns a Deity nigh;
prayer and praising, voices raising,
worshiping God on high.
Chorus

Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume
breathes a life of gathering gloom;
sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
sealed in the stone-cold tomb.
Chorus

Glorious now behold him arise;
King and God and sacrifice:
Alleluia, Alleluia,
sounds through the earth and skies.
Chorus
