HYMN: O give thanks to the Lord
LEADER:
It is with great joy that we welcome ( Name of Bride ) into our home today. This evening, (Name of Bridegroom) and she were pronounced husband and wife in Church as we all had our share of fun in the celebration. We thank and praise God for all that has happened.
Let us now listen to the words of Scripture.
SCRIPTURE READING:
from the book of Genesis 24: 58-61
And they called Rebekah, and said to her, 'Will you go with this man?' She said, 'I will.' So they sent away their sister Rebekah and her nurse along with Abraham's servant and his men. And they blessed Rebekah and said to her,' May you, our sister, become thousands of myriads; may your offspring gain possession of the gates of their foes.' Then Rebekah and her maids rose up, mounted the camels, and followed the man; thus the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.
This is the word of the Lord
LEADER:
Just as Rebekah was blessed before her wedding to Issac we know that ( Name of Bride ) has also been blessed by her family. Today as she enters this home with mixed feelings - of sadness as she has said goodbye to her family and of joy as she has married ( Name of Bridegroom ) whom she loves, let us all pray to God to be with her and ( Name of Bridegroom ) as they begin new life together.
Our response is: Lord, bless and protect them
1. That ( Names of Bride & Groom ) will grow in their love for each other through the passing of each day...
Let us pray to the Lord...
2. That the family of ( Name of Bride ) will be blessed for all their efforts in bringing her up...
Let us pray to the Lord...
3. That ( Name of Bride ) may experience the comfort and joy of a new home away from home...
Let us pray to the Lord...
4. That the wedding of ( Names of Bride & Groom ) may be a beautiful sign of God's presence...
Let us pray to the Lord...
LEADER:
And now let us sum up all our prayers as we raise our right hands towards the couple and pray the prayer that Our Lord Jesus himself taught us...Our Father...
