Hymns

If we live, it's for the Lord,
If we die, it's for the Lord,
For Christ rose to be the Lord
Of the living and of the dead.

For I know that my Redeemer lives,
At the end he'll stand upon the earth,
He shall be a witness by my side,
He will come to my defence

Where, O death, where is your victory?
Where, O death, where is your power to hurt?
For the Lord has conquered sin and death,
By his cross we are made free!

We were dead through our own trespasses,
We obeyed the promptings of the world;
But with Christ we have now risen,
By his grace we have been saved.

Do not sleep as children of the night,
Stay awake as children of the day.
For the Lord has risen from the dead:
It is this that we proclaim.

If you wish to be my disciple,
Take up your cross and follow me.

The Foxes have their holes, the birds their nest,
But I have not a place to take my rest.
Chorus.

Whoever loves his life, will only lose it,
It’s only sacrifice that brings one gain.
Chorus.

All you who labour, come you who are burdened,
Take up my yoke as well and you’ll find rest.
Chorus.

The one who holds the plough and looks behind,
My Kingdom cannot serve, my peace won’t find.
Chorus.

A Servant surely is less than his master,
If they have hated me, they will hate you.
Chorus.

Take nothing for your pay, no bread, no money,
Your treasure must be one no moth destroys.
Chorus. .

So let your lions be girt, your lamps aburning,
And be like those who wait for my return.
Chorus.

You who have followed me, when life is ended,
Will reap a hundredfold eternally.
Chorus.

In bread we bring you Lord, our body's' labour
In wine we offer you our spirit's grief.
We do not ask you, Lord, who is my neighbor?
But stand united now, in one belief.
For we have gladly heard your Word, your holy Word
And now in answer, Lord, our gifts we bring.
Our selfish hearts make true, our failing faith renew,
Our life belongs to you, our Lord and King.

The bread we offer you is blessed and broken,
And it becomes for us our spirit’s food.
Over the cup we bring, your Word is spoken;
Make it your gift to us, your healing blood.
Take all that daily toil, plants in our heart’s poor soil,
Take all we start and spoil, each hopeful dream.
The chances we have missed, the graces we resist,
Lord, in thy Eucharist, take and redeem.

In him we live and move and have our being (x2)

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me, and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.”
I came to Jesus as I was, Weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting-place, And He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give
The living water: thirsty one, Stoop down, and drink, and live.”
I came to Jesus, and I drank Of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, And now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s Light;
Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, And all thy day be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found In Him my Star, my Sun;
And in that Light of life I’ll walk Till trav’lling days are done.

In His days peace and justice shall prevail (x2)
0 God give your judgement to the king,
To a king's Son your justice,
That he may judge your people in justice
And your poor in right judgement.

 In his days justice shall flourish
And peace till the moon fails,
He shall rule from sea to sea,
From the great river to earth's bounds.

He shall save the poor when they cry
And the needy who are helpless.
He will have pity on the weak,
And save the lives of the oppressed.
He is Lord, he is King, let him in (x2)

The Lord's is the earth and its fullness.
The world and all its peoples.
 It is he who set it on the seas;
On the waters he made it firm.

Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who shall stand in his holy place?
The one with clean hands and pure heart,
Who desires not worthless things.

They shall receive blessings from the Lord
And reward from the God who saves them.
Such are those who seek him,
Seek the face of the God of Jacob.

In His time, in His time,
He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord, please show me everyday
As You’re teaching me Your way,
That you do just what You say in Your time.

In Your time, in Your time,
You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Lord, my life to You I bring,
With its winter and its spring,
May I fathom everything in Your time.

There’s a time, there’s a time
Both for sowing and for reaping there’s a time.
Time for losing, time for gain,
Time for joy and time for pain,
Every purpose under heaven has a time.

There are times, there are days,
Weeks and months we cannot understand God’s ways.
If for years we fail to scan
What is his eternal plan,
We’ll remember that He can, all the time.

In the Lord, is my hope,
In the Lord, is my help.
He’s my shield and my strength.
He’s my fortress: I stand firm.

I’ve no fear of the night and its shadow,
I’ve no fear of the plague that prowls around,
For Your light shines, O Lord, in the darkness,
And Your brightness, leads me on.

I’ve no fear if alone I’ll be walking,
I’ve no fear if the journey is so long,
For it’s You, Lord, the way to the Father,
On Your path, I am safe.

I’ve no fear of the death that surrounds me,
I’ve no fear in a world of woes and ills,
For I know, Lord, You grant life eternal
If I only hope in You.

I’ve no fear if assailed by disaster,
I’ve no fear in the midst of pain and gloom,
For You are, Lord, my joy my salvation.
Alleluia! Praise the Lord!

Into Thy Presence I come (x2)
Not by the works I have done
But by the grace I have done
I come and bow before your throne

Singing Jesus, Jesus is the Lamb
Jesus is the Lamb that was slain (x2)

Singing holy, holy is the Lamb
Holy is the Lamb that was slain (x2)

Singing glory, glory is the Lamb
Glory is the Lamb that was slain (x2)

Into Your hands I commend my spirit, O Lord,
Into your hands I commend my life.

It's you, O Lord, who are my sanctuary
So let me not be put to shame.
Into your hands I commend my spirit, Lord
Redeem me, Lord, and set me free.

Both friend and foe run far away from me,
They look at me with fear and scorn
I have become an object of reproach
A man forgotten placed with the dead.

But as for me I trust in you, O Lord,
I say to him: "You are my God".
From all my foes deliver me, O Lord;
I place my life, in your safe hands.

So let your face shine on your servant, Lord
So save me now, in your great love;
Let all who hope take courage in the Lord;
Be strong of heart and trust in him.

Into Your hands we commend our spirit O Lord,
Into Your hands we commend our hearts.
For we must die to ourselves in loving You,
Into Your hands we commend our love.

O God, my God, why have You gone from me,
Far from my prayers, far from my cry?
To You I call and you never answer me,
You send no comfort and I don’t know why!

You’ve been my guide since I was very yound,
You showed the way, you brought relief;
But now I’m lonely, nobody’s by my side:
Take heed, my Lord, listen to my prayer.

Inviolata, integra, et casta es Maria,
quae es effecta fulgida caeli porta.

O Mater alma Christi carissima,
suscipe pia laudum praeconia.

Te nunc flagitant devota corda et ora,
nostra ut pura pectora sint et corpora.

Tu per precata dulcisona,
nobis concedas veniam per saecula.

O benigna! O Regina! O Maria,
quae sola inviolata permansisti.

Isti sunt agni novelli, qui annuntiaverunt Alleluia;

It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold:
"Peace on the earth, goodwill to men
From heavens all gracious King!"
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing.

Still through the cloven skies they come,
With peaceful wings unfurled;
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world:
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever o'er its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.

O ye beneath life's crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way
With painful steps and slow;
Look now, for glad and golden hours
Come swiftly on the wing;
Oh rest beside the weary road
And hear the angels sing.

For lo! the days are hastening on,
By prophets seen of old,
When with the ever-circling years
Shall come the time foretold,
When the new heaven and earth shall own
The Prince of Peace, their King,
And the whole world send back the song
Which now the angels sing.

It takes courage to answer a call
It takes courage to give your all
It takes courage to risk your name
It takes courage to be true.

It takes courage to dare
What no other will share,
To be standing alone
One whom no one will own.
To be ready to stake
for another man's sake
It takes courage to be true

It takes courage to say
What you know will not pay
to give each one his share
Through there'll be less to spare
To be speaking no more
Than the neighbour next door,
It takes courage to be true.

It takes courage to leave
What good fortune can give,
And to go to a land
where the poor need a hand
To be spending one's days
In less leisurely ways
It takes courage to be true.

It was six days before the Passover.
Jesus entered Jerusalem
And the children ran out waving branches
As they sang to Him these words of praise.

Come on and sing Hosanna,
Sing Hosanna, sing hosanna in the highest. (x2)

Lift your heads, O you gates, and reach higher
Let him enter, the glorious King.
Tell me, who is the King robed in glory?
He’s the mighty Lord of heaven’s hosts.

Come on and blest is He, the King who comes,
So rich in mercy and in love.
Come on and blest is He, the King who comes,
So rich in mercy and in love.

Jesus always loved His own
And He showed it to the full;
When at supper from the table,
He got up and took a towel.
Then He wrapped it round His waist,
In a basin water poured,
And began to wash the feet of all His friends.

Know my people, what I’ve done to you:
Lord, you call me - it is what I am.
If then I, your Lord, designed to wash your feet,
You should do the same and wash each other’s feet.

Jesus always loved His own
And He showed it to the full;
When He came to Simon Peter,
The apostle said to Him,
“Never shall You wash my feet,”
Then the Lord replied to him:
“It is not for you to know what now I do.”

Jesus always loved His own
And He showed it to the full;
When He said to Simon Peter;
“If I do not wash your feet,
You can have no part with me,”
Then said Peter to his Lord,
“Wash my hands, my head and not my feet alone.”

Jesus always loved His own
And He showed it to the full;
He has set us an example,
That we do as He has done.
Can a servant greater be,
Than his master, Christ the Lord?
If we know and do this, happy we shall be.

Jesus Christ, living in us,
You are our gladness for ever.

You are the Truth, the Light, alleluia
Now, as it was, for all the ages to come, alleluia

You are the life, O Christ, alleluia
One who abides in you, for ever shall live, alleluia

You are the Word of God, alleluia
Who has revealed the Father's love to the world, alleluia

You are the Saviour, Lord, alleluia
Into this world you came to save what was lost, alleluia

Then at the end of time, alleluia
You will return, for ever bringing us joy, alleluia

Praise be to you, O Christ, alleluia
Praise to the Father, Son and Spirit divine, alleluia

Jesus come, Jesus come Jesus come
Say to us: I’m the one who is to come.

He will come just when you feel He’ll never come.
He will come just when you think He’s gone.
He’ll be there just when you find He’s elsewhere.
Please don’t be late, be awake, let Him come.

Jesus is coming, Jesus is coming,
Jesus is coming again,
Rise from your slumber, welcome the Day-star,
Open your hearts to the King!

You in darkness, greet the Light,
Shining through the dreary night.
Unto us is coming soon
Jesus, our Emmanuel.

By these names shall He be called:
Everlasting Father,
Counsellor most wonderful,
Mighty God and Prince of peace.

And the government shall be firm
Upon his shoulder.
He shall rule with righteousness.
Truth and justice shall prevail.

Joy to you, I say, rejoice,
For the Lord is very near.
In the desert make a way
And his glory shall appear.

Jesus is my song of Joy, He is my everything.
Jesus is my song of Joy, alleluia

Jesus is my song of thanks, He is my everything.
Jesus is my song of thanks, alleluia

Jesus is my song of Praise, He is my everything.
Jesus is my song of praise, alleluia

Jesus is my song of faith, He is my everything.
Jesus is my song of faith, alleluia

Jesus is my song of hope, He is my everything.
Jesus is my song of hope, alleluia

Jesus is my song of love, He is my everything.
Jesus is my song of love, alleluia

Jesus is my song of peace, He is my everything.
Jesus is my song of peace, alleluia

Jesus is the joy of living
He's the king of life to me,
Unto Him my all I'm giving,
His for evermore to be.

I will do what He commands me,
Anywhere he leads I'll go,
Jesus is the joy of living,
He's the dearest friend I know.

Jesus The Word:
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Jesus, the Word of God the Father,
You come to tell us of his love.

Jesus, you are my Salvation,
Jesus, you're my inspiration,
Jesus you're the treasure of my life.

Jesus, you offer new sight to the blind,
Healing the crippled, the deaf and the mute,
Cleansing the leper and banishing ills,
Raising the dead to life.

Jesus, you nurture the hungry with bread,
Stilling the tempest and calming the sea,
Turning life's water to glittering wine,
Shedding your blood for me.

Jesus, my refuge, in you do I trust,
Jesus, my Saviour, in you I rejoice,
Jesus, my way and my truth and my life,
Jesus who sets me free.

Jesus, the wisdom and power of the Lord,
Jesus, our high priest, our Passover Lamb,
Jesus, the brightness and image of God,
Jesus, the King of peace.

Jesus you're the sweetest name of all,
Jesus you always hear me when I call,
Oh Jesus you pick me up each time I fall
You're the sweetest, the sweetest name of all.

Jesus how I love to praise your name
Jesus you're the first the last the same,
Oh! Jesus you died and took away my shame,
You're the sweetest, the sweetest name of all.

Jesus! my Lord, my God my all!
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how revere this wondrous gift,
So far surpassing hope or thought?

Sweet Sacrament we Thee adore
O make us love Thee more and more (x2)

Had I but Mary’s sinless heart
To love Thee with my dearest King,
Oh with what bursts of fervent praise
Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing!

Ah, see! within a creature’s hand
The vast Creator deigns to be,
Reposing infant-like as though On Joseph’s arm or Mary’s knee.
