Hymns

Mary from thy sacred image,
With those eyes so sadly sweet
Mother of Perpetual Succour
See us kneeling at thy feet

In thine arms thy Child thou bearest;
Source of all thy joy and woe;
What thy bliss, how deep thy sorrows,
Mother thou alone canst know.

On thy face He is not gazing,
Nor on us is turned His glance
For His anxious look He fixes
On the Cross and Reed and Lance

To thy hands His hands are clinging
As a child would cling in fear,
Of that vision of the torments
Of His Passion drawing near.

And for Him thine eyes are pleading
While to us they look and cry:
“Sinners spare my Child your Saviour,
seek not still to crucify.”

Yes, we hear thy words sweet Mother,
But poor sinners we are weak;
At thy feet thy helpless children
Thy Perpetual Succour seek.

Succour us in clouds of sadness;
Hide the light of heaven above;
Hope expires and faith scares lingers;
And we dare not think we love.

Mother dear, O pray for me!
Whilst far from heaven and thee.
I wander in a fragile bark,
O’er life’s tempestuous sea.
O Virgin Mother, from thy throne,
So bright in bliss above.
Protect thy child and cheer my path
With thy sweet smile of love.

Mother dear, remember me!
And never cease thy care,
‘Till in heaven eternally,
Thy love and bliss I share.

Mother dear, O pray for me!
Should pleasure’s siren lay.
E’er tempt thy child to wander far
From Virtue’s path away.
When thorns beset life’s devious way,
And darkling waters flow.
Then Mary aid thy weeping child,
Thyself a mother show.

Mother dearest, Mother fairest,
Help of all, who call on thee.
Virgin purest, brightest, rarest,
Help us, help, we cry to thee.

Chorus
Mary, help us, help we pray.
Mary, help us, help we pray.
Help us in all care and sorrow.
Mary, help us, help we pray.

Mary, help in pain and sorrow,
Soothe those rack'd on beds of pain,
May the golden light of morrow,
Bring them health and joy again.

Help our priests, our sisters lowly,
Help our pope, long may he reign,
Pray that we who sing their praises
May in heaven all meet again.

Mary, help the absent loved ones.
How we miss their presence here.
May the hand of Thy protection
Guide and guard them far and near.

Mother of God, plead with your Son,
Pray for us sinners, Mary most pure.

May God pour cleansing streams over us,
Washing our souls from every stain.

May He remove our stony hearts,
Give us a heart of flesh in its stead.

May He incline our minds to His voice,
That we may bend our hearts to His will.

May He renew the strength of the weak
And be the hope of wavering wills.

That He may wipe away every tear
And make His light to shine on our face.

No one can live as an island,
Journeying through life alone.
Since we’re most loved by a mother,
Jesus gave us His own.

Chorus:
Be with us Mary,
along the way,
Guide every step we take.
Lead us to Jesus your loving son.
Come with us, Mary come.
When Jesus met with rejection,
Mary stood by the cross;
How can a mother desert her son?
She’ll also stand by us.
Chorus:

Help us, O star of the ocean,
Be with us in our strife,
When we are faced with temptation,
Tossed by the storms of life.
Chorus:

Often enough in life’s banquet
we shall run short of wine
Then as at Cana, request your son
To make our lives divine
Chorus:

Come with us, Mary (x3) come

1. O come to the throne of grace,
O come to the heart most pure.
To Mary, our hope of life,
In whom salvation is sure.

Chorus:

O Lady of Fatima, hail!
Immaculate Mother of grace;
O, pray for us, help us today,
Thou hope of the human race!

2. Immaculate Heart! we kneel
To consecrate all to thee:
The present, its pain and joy
The future, all it may be.

3. The sun at thy royal word
Spun round like a splendid toy;
The rose petals showering down
Proclaimed thee cause of our joy.

4. The Rosary, white and gold,
We take from thy Virgin hand;
A pledge of the power of God
To heal and strengthen our land.

5. O Mother of Sorrows, hail!
We mourn for our evil done;
O soften our selfish hearts,
And lead us back to thy Son.

6. O Mother of priests in need,
For thine assistance we pray;
Thy graces flow: sweet the seed
Of Saints, thy Son to obey.

7. Lead Russia back home again,
That over a peaceful world
Thy heart may graciously reign.
O maiden will you be the mother of the Saviour?
Your God has chosen you, to give the world His Son
His power will be your shield, His Spirit come upon you
And Mary bowed and said: God’s will be done.

And Mary said yes (x3)
When she knew that it was the will of God

No cradle will be His, but just a simple manger,
A helpless little babe from Herod’s wrath He’ll run
And in a foreign land, long years He’ll have to linger
And Mary bowed and said: God’s will be done.

And soon the day will come, when enemies will round Him
And nail Him to a tree, your sinless spotless one
The price of mankind’s ransom will heavy fall upon Him
And Mary bowed and said: God’s will be done.

O Queen of the Holy Rosary,
O bless us as we pray,
And offer thee our roses
In garlands day by day,
While from our Father's garden,
With loving hearts and bold,
We gather to thine honour
Buds white and red and gold.

O Queen of the Holy Rosary,
Each mystery blends with thine
The sacred life of Jesus
In every step divine,
Thy soul was His fair garden,
Thy virgin breast His throne,
Thy thoughts His faithful mirror,
Reflecting Him alone.

O Queen of the Holy Rosary,
We share thy joy and pain,
And long to see the glory
Of Christ's triumphant reign.
Oh, teach us holy Mary,
To live each mystery,
And gain by patient suffering
The glory won by thee.

O with what joy we sing of Mary,
A woman of great love,
Whose openness and loving kindness,
Gave birth to God’s own son.
Mary, O so gentle and discreet,
Be with us as we pray
To know the whisper of his presence,
The wonder of his love.

On this day of joy, on this day of hope
We come to you in Love, O Lord (2)

With this bread and wine, we come
To this Eucharistic feast
On this day of joy on this day of hope
We come to you in love.

Bread to be your body Lord
Wine to be your saving blood
On this day of joy on this day of hope
We come to you in love.

Queen of heaven, rejoice, allelu, alleluia,
For the Son you were worthy to bear,
Has now risen indeed as he said, alleluia,
Dearest Mother, your gladness we share.

Rejoice, rejoice, be glad Virgin Mary,
For the Lord is risen indeed, allelu, alleluia.
Rejoice, rejoice, be glad Virgin Mary,
For the Lord is risen indeed, allelu, alleluia.

When a woman declared you were blest of all mothers,
Jesus said that you were from the start,
The best listener of all and his truest disciple,
For you treasured his word in your heart.

We remember your prayer for the starving, the lowly,
Your concern for the poor of our race.
While the people proclaim you,
"Most blest among women",
Let the angels sing, "Hail full of grace".

Salve mater misericordiae,
Mater Dei, et mater veniae,
Mater spei, et mater gratiae,
Mater plena sanctae laetitiae; O Maria!

Salve deus humani generis
Salve Virgo dignior ceteris,
Quae virgines omnes transgrederis,
Et altius sedes in superis, O Maria!

Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae:
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve,
et spes nostra salve. Ad te clamamus,
exsules, filii Hevae.  Ad
te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle. Eia ergo
Advocata nostra, illos tuos
misericordes oculos ad nos converte.
Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
ventris tui, nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens; O pia; O dulcis Virgo Maria.
O clemens; O pia; O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Sing we now in praise of Mary, sing with joy her praises due,
Imitate her every virtue as a loyal child and true.
In her womb she moulded Jesus, to her heart God's Word did stay.
Into other Christ's she'll change us in a mother's gentle way.

Sing of Jesus, Son of Mary, in the home at Nazareth.
Toil and labour cannot weary love enduring unto death.
Constant was the love he gave her, though he went forth from her side.
Forth to preach and heal and suffer, till on Calvary he died.

Stabat Mater dolorosa
Juxta crucem lacrymosa,
Dum pendebat Filius.

Cujus animam gememtem,
Contristatam et dolentem,
Pertransivit gladius.

O quam tristis et afflicta
Fuit illa benedicta
Mater Unigeniti!

Star of the ocean and gateway to heaven,
Guide of the pilgrim and light of our way,
Save us from danger and lead us onward:
Mary, we trust in your care.

Ave, ave, ave Maria.
Ave, ave, hail Mary full of grace!

Show us, O Mary, that you are our Mother,
Show to the rest of your offspring your Son,
Who by his dying and rising healed us:
Pouring new wine at your word.

Guard us in danger, O blest among women,
Keep us from sin on our journey through life;
Till we reach harbour protect us, guide us:
Mary, bright star in the night!

The Bells of the Angelus, Calleth to pray,
In sweet tones announcing the Sacred Ave (2)

Ave, Ave, Ave Maria

Immaculate Mary, thy praises we sing,
Who reignest with Christ, our Reedemer and King.

We are the bearers of the light of Christ the King,
He is the true and only Light, is Christ our King.
Of Virgin Mother he was born when the world was all forlorn;
To mankind in sin and woe, when the world was suffering hem below
He brought the light, He brought the light.

Mary by sin was never stained, she bore the light
Mother, yet virgin she remained, she fought the fight
The fairest virgin of our race, filled from birth with saving grace,
When the angel's voice she heard, she responded to God's holy Word,
She bore the Light, she bore the Light.

You are the honour of our people, O Virgin Mary, the joy of Israel,
You’re blest among all women, For you treasured the Word in your heart,
You were taken into heaven, into freedom, into glory
Into his marvellous light (2)

Lift up your soul & praise the father
O Virgin Mary the joy of all the world
All nations shall extol you
For his marvellous works for you

So now rejoice in your saviour, holy is name,
And let us praise the Almighty, The Lord who did marvels for you,
For you were taken into heaven (3) into his marvellous light (2)
Into Freedom (4) into his marvellous light (2).
