Hymns

Sing we now in praise of Mary, sing with joy her praises due,
Imitate her every virtue as a loyal child and true.
In her womb she moulded Jesus, to her heart God's Word did stay.
Into other Christ's she'll change us in a mother's gentle way.

Sing of Jesus, Son of Mary, in the home at Nazareth.
Toil and labour cannot weary love enduring unto death.
Constant was the love he gave her, though he went forth from her side.
Forth to preach and heal and suffer, till on Calvary he died.

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me;
Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me! Come home! come home!

You who are weary, come home!
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Why should we delay when Jesus is pleading
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies
Mercies for you and for me?

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, death-beds are coming
Coming for you and for me!

Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon
Pardon for you and for me!

Somewhere far from town and people in a stable poor,
Jesus Christ was born of Mary in a cave obscure.

To seek him don’t trouble to Bethlehem to go,
In silence you’ll find him and in the poor next door.

In the midst of noise and tumult can his voice be heard?
No, we’ll live in peace and silence, eager for his Word.

In the hungry, sick and homeless, Christ himself conceals
To the lowly, meek and humble, he himself reveals.

Did you hear the angels’ tiding? You can hear it still
If you bend his cave to enter, if you’re of good will.

Speak, O Lord: Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah,
Speak, O Lord, for your servant hears,
Speak, living Word, touch our hearts.

Spirit of God: Hallelujah, hallelu, hallelujah, hallelu,
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelu, hallelujah.

The Spirit of God is poured upon us,
The Spirit of counsel and of might
Of wisdom and love and fear of the Lord,
Of knowledge and understanding.

Spirit of God : (For Weddings)
The sign of God's love is Jesus the Lord:
In him is revealed that God is love;
And now love is seen in husband and wife:
Through them is our love perfected.

Spirit of God in the clear running water
Blowing to greatness the trees on the hill.
Spirit of God in the finger of morning:

Fill the earth, bring it to birth,
And blow where you will.
Blow, blow, blow till I be
But the breath of the Spirit blowing in me.

Down in the meadow the willows are moaning
Sheep in the pastureland cannot lie still.
Spirit of God, creation is groaning:

I saw the scar of a year that lay dying
Heard the lament of a lone whippoorwill.
Spirit of God, see that cloud crying:

Spirit of God every man's heart is lonely
Watching and waiting and hungry until
Spirit of God, man longs that you only

Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me
Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me
Melt me, mould me, fill me, use me (x2)

Spirit of the Living God, cleanse us from our sins…

Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me

Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me

Stabat Mater dolorosa
Juxta crucem lacrymosa,
Dum pendebat Filius.

Cujus animam gememtem,
Contristatam et dolentem,
Pertransivit gladius.

O quam tristis et afflicta
Fuit illa benedicta
Mater Unigeniti!

Star of the ocean and gateway to heaven,
Guide of the pilgrim and light of our way,
Save us from danger and lead us onward:
Mary, we trust in your care.

Ave, ave, ave Maria.
Ave, ave, hail Mary full of grace!

Show us, O Mary, that you are our Mother,
Show to the rest of your offspring your Son,
Who by his dying and rising healed us:
Pouring new wine at your word.

Guard us in danger, O blest among women,
Keep us from sin on our journey through life;
Till we reach harbour protect us, guide us:
Mary, bright star in the night!

Stay awake, the Master is coming.
Be not asleep for all may be lost,
Stand ready, the Son of Man is coming
At a time we may least expect!

Prepare the way and clear the bye lanes
For our Lord and Master yet to come,
With open minds and grateful hearts
Let’s now repent our sinful past.

The Master’s work proclaims his glory,
He has given sight to the blind,
The deafened ears have been unsealed,
The lame have leapt and sung for joy.

“Forgive,” he says, “all those who hurt you,
Love instead as god’s good children should,
Don’t be their judge lest you be judged,
As God alone can judge us all.”

Let’s love them all who are around us,
Most of all the poorest of the poor,
By this we’ll bring a ray of hope
And joy into their saddened hearts.

1. Sweet heart of Jesus, fount of love and mercy,
today we come, thy blessing to implore;
O touch our hearts, so cold and so ungrateful,
and make them, Lord, thine own for evermore.

Chorus:
Sweet heart of Jesus, we implore,
O make us love thee more and more.

2. Sweet heart of Jesus, make us know and love thee,
unfold to us the treasures of thy grace;
that so our hearts, from things of earth uplifted,
may long alone to gaze upon thy face.

3. Sweet heart of Jesus, make us pure and gentle,
and teach us how to do thy blessed will;
to follow close the print of thy dear footsteps,
and when we fall – sweet heart, oh, love us still.

4. Sweet heart of Jesus, bless all hearts that love thee,
and may thine own heart ever blessed be,
bless us, dear Lord, and bless the friends we cherish,
and keep us true to Mary and to thee.
Sweet Sacrament divine,
hid in thine earthly home;
lo! round thy lowly shrine,
with suppliant hearts we come;
Jesus, to thee our voice we raise
In songs of love and heartfelt praise
sweet Sacrament divine.

Sweet Sacrament of peace,
dear home of every heart,
where restless yearnings cease,
and sorrows all depart.
there in thine ear, all trustfully,
we tell our tale of misery,
sweet Sacrament of peace.

Sweet Sacrament of rest,
ark from the ocean's roar,
within thy shelter blest
soon may we reach the shore;
save us, for still the tempest raves,
save, lest we sink beneath the waves:
sweet Sacrament of rest.

Sweet Sacrament divine,
earth's light and jubilee,
in thy far depths doth shine
the Godhead's majesty;
sweet light, so shine on us, we pray
that earthly joys may fade away:
sweet Sacrament divine.
