Hymns

The people of God who had fled
From the tyrant's cruel command,
By God had been faithfully led,
Safe across the dry, arid sand,
With eyes that were constantly turned
To the distant land of God's Word
The land for which every tribe yearned,
Where no cry of pain would be heard.

We come land of our hope
Though hard be the journey and long
We come land of our hope,
We know that to you we belong
We come land of our hope,
Our hearts over flowing with song
We come land of our hope, we come!

Weighed down by the sorrows of earth,
See the nations look for the light,
A thirst for the joys of true worth,
For unending peace and delight,
O where is the land that can fill
The desires that burn in the heart?
The true Church of God is the home
That alone this joy can impart.

Released from the bondage of sin,
We now freely join in the march,
Our Saviour shall help us to win
What has been the goal of our search.
Our home is God's heaven above
To which every soul he will send
If honest in faith and in love,
We have followed Christ to the end.

Oremus
SANCTA Maria, regina caelorum, mater Domini nostri Iesu Christi,
et mundi domina, quae nullum derelinquis, et nullum despicis: respice me,
domina, clementer oculo pietatis,
et impetra mihi apud tuum dilectum Filium cunctorum veniam peccatorum:
ut qui nunc tuam sanctam et immaculatam conceptionem devoto affectu recolo,
aeternae in futurum beatitudinis, bravium capiam, ipso, quem virgo peperisti,
donante Domino nostro Iesu Christo: qui cum Patre et Sancto Spiritu vivit et regnat,
in Trinitate perfecta, Deus, in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Wake up, O Christian, rise!
Away with lesser things;
Give heart and soul and mind and strength
To serve the King of kings.

Awake, keep awake,
For the Bridegroom is now near;
We welcome his Parousia
With lamps and hearts aglow.

Wake up, O Christian, rise!
His kingdom tarries long;
Bring in the day of brotherhood
And end the night of wrong.

Wake up, O Christian, rise!
How long the Church must wait.
Her strength unequal to her task.
Rise up and make her great.

Wake up, O people, rise away with lesser things.
Give heart and soul and mind and strength
To serve the King of kings.

Awake, be alert, for a new age is now here
Let's journey through this century
With goal and vision clear.

Wake up, O people, rise, for gospel values search.
Let mission and discovery
Revitalize the Church.

Wake up O people rise! How long the Church must wait?
To live by her priorities'?
Rise up and make her great.

Chorus: Wake up, O people, the Lord is very near!
Wake up, and stand for the Lord.
Wake up, O people, the Lord is very near!
Wake up, and stand for the Lord.

Your saving Lord is near. Wake up!
His glory will appear. Wake up!
Your hour of grace is nearer than it ever was.

The night of sin has passed. Wake up!
The light is near at last. Wake up!
The day star, Christ, the Son of God, will soon appear.

To live in love and peace. Wake up!
To let all quarrels cease. Wake up!
To live that all you do may stand the light of day.

That Christ may be your shield. Wake up!
That death to life may yield. Wake up!
That heaven’s gate be opened wide again for you.
